HARMONY - UN Chamber Music Society
Todo Se Detiene - Julio Victoria
Harmony is an initiative launched in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of United Nations through the UN Chamber Music Society, bringing together musicians and composers from different countries to foster cultural dialogue through chamber music.
The album is a compilation of works created in collaboration between nine electronic music producers and a quintet of Juilliard-trained musicians. The pieces explore intersections between academic, electronic, and contemporary languages, engaging tradition and experimentation in equal measure.
Julio Victoria’s participation in the project originated from an encounter in New York with Brenda Vongova, who was already familiar with his orchestral work. From this initial exchange, a sustained creative process developed, centered on intercultural collaboration and sonic exploration, incorporating traditional instruments such as marimba and harp within the arrangements.
After two years of work, Todo Se Detiene took shape and became part of Harmony. The piece features vocal contributions by Lalo Cortes, whose voice introduces an intimate and restrained dimension, expanding the emotional register of the work within the album.
