Where Is Berlin is an animated cyberpunk short directed by Augusto Mendez, set in Hope City, a city under surveillance and censorship where a mysterious cosmic signal is taken as the voice of God. The story follows Ian Stackhausen, a record producer who has wealth and influence but feels hollow, as he is drawn into GOD X, the movement that has formed around the transmissions.
Julio Victoria composed the original score with Steinlausky. The score mixes ambient textures, rhythmic electronics and orchestral writing. In the film, the music carries part of the narrative and emotional arc instead of sitting behind the image.
The film won Best Animated Short Film at the 15th OtherMovie Lugano Film Festival in Switzerland. In 2026 it was an official selection at Hollywood Shortsfest, FirstGlance Los Angeles Film Festival, Torino Underground Cinefest, Firenze Film Festival and Apulia Web Fest. A soundtrack album and three lead singles are planned.
